Buckner Christian Church hosted the Oldham County Hymn Sing Feb. 19. There were 17 folks there and eight churches represented. Bro. David Warren from the church gave a hearty welcome and had the evening prayer. Bro. Jim Shaw from Grace Baptist lead the singing. Marvin Dawson picked his guitar. We sang “Glory to His Name” and “Blessed Assurance.” We didn’t have a piano player. Next, Lloyd Freeman from First Baptist Church from Middletown sang, “I’m Using My Life For a Road Map,” and “I Believe in a Hill Called Mt. Calvary.” Marvin played for him. Marvin played for two songs, “Kneel at the Cross” and “Keep Your Eyes on Jesus.” Jim Shaw sang two songs with a CD, ”Thank you Lord for your Blessings,” and “He Still Looks Over Me.” Jerry Gingento from New Song Christian Fellowship Church sang “In Christ Alone,” “In the Garden” and “The Lord’s Prayer” with a CD. Jim lead us in another song, “At Calvary,” and Marvin played along. Ada Robinson from Hillcrest Baptist Church sang “There’s Something About That Name.” Marvin played for Dorthy Johnson from Hillcrest Baptist Church. She led everyone in singing, “I Will Sing the Wondrous Story.” Then she sang “There Shall Be Showers of Blessings.” Marvin played “The Old Country Church,” and eight men sang “I Surrender All,” while Marvin played. Lloyd Freeman sang again, this time singing “He Touched Me.” Then 10 women sang a song and Marvin played along. Then we all joined hands and sang “God Be With Us ‘Til We Meet Again.” The next hymn sing is planned at 7 p.m. March 10 at Hillcrest Baptist Church. We hope to see everyone there.
